In fact, the company lost 101,000 postpaid subscribers in the period, and we're guessing that the one-two punch of WiMAX hitting the expansion skids while VZW built out LTE at a breakneck pace didn't help matters. 674,000 prepaid subs were added to the mix (through Virgin Mobile, Boost Mobile, etc. arms), and despite seeing quarterly sequential and year-over-year growth in wireless service revenue, the carrier still reported a net loss of $847 million. In a way, it's the same story on a different day for The Now Network, and while the just-announced LightSquared partnership may end up bolstering things in time, it'll take something a bit more jarring to turn things around by Q3. Or Q4... right, Dan?

Amy Winehouse Funeral

The friends and family of singer Amy Winehouse, who died Saturday at age 27, gathered for her funeral in London on Tuesday morning -- three days after her death, which is in keeping with Jewish tradition.

Following the ceremony, mourners headed to the Golders Green crematorium, where Winehouse was to be cremated. "I think because her grandmother was cremated at the same place, so it was a family tradition to be cremated," the singer's rep told People. Some of Winehouse's ashes reportedly will be scattered with those of her grandmother Cynthia, who died of lung cancer five years ago.

The funeral may help bring peace to Winehouse's loved ones, but they don't have closure yet. An autopsy on Monday was supposed to determine how Winehouse died, but according to the Associated Press, the results were inconclusive. London police have announced that they are awaiting the results of "further toxicology tests," which will take two to four weeks.

Winehouse's death is widely assumed to be related to her very public struggle with drug and alcohol addiction, but the police have presented no evidence to support that theory. Although U.K. newspaper the Daily Mirror reported that Winehouse's friends and family say she died of alcohol and ecstasy use, an anonymous police source told People that Winehouse was not surrounded by paraphernalia or signs of drugs when she passed away.

The singer-songwriter's death has left other questions, too -- particularly about Winehouse's unreleased recordings. Though her musical influence was tremendous, Winehouse only released two studio albums before she passed away. MTV News reports that she had been working on a reported follow-up to 2006's Back in Black for the past two years. It's unknown how many finished songs she actually recorded -- or, indeed, if she recorded any.

Music lovers are now holding their collective breath, hoping that there's another Amy Winehouse album still to come. For now, the world is revisiting her familiar songs: Back in Black is currently No. 1 on the iTunes charts.

Roald Linaker said he had even taken leave from his political-science studies at the university in the northern city of Tromsoe in order to work full-time in politics and was a regional secretary of the party's youth wing, which hold the camp on the island of Utoya every summer.

"He had been to Utoya many, many times, four or five years," his father said.

His voice weak and trembling, Linaker said he had been on the phone with his son when the shooting started. "He said to me: 'Dad, dad, someone is shooting,' and then he hung up."

That was the last he heard from his son. Gunnar Linaker was wounded and was taken to a nearby hospital, where he died on Saturday. His 17-year-old sister also was at the camp, but somehow survived the slaughter, he said.

He declined to speak any further.

Knutsen, 56, had left the office of the electricians and information technology workers' union for the day and was on her way to a subway station when the bomb exploded in Oslo's government office quarter, union head Hans Felix said.

Normally Knutsen would go to and from work on her bicycle, but earlier that day she had left it at a repair shop.

"It wasn't finished, so this day she had to take the subway home. Tove never got home," Felix said. "Tove was a happy girl who was well liked by us all, and it feels unreal that she is no longer with us."

Police only identified two more of the slain, both victims of the bombing. They were Hanna M. Orvik Endresen, 61, and Kai Hauge, a 33-year-old who owned a bar and restaurant in downtown Oslo. A flower arrangement outside the bar on Tuesday afternoon included notes from friends and a photo of him. A note beside the locked front door, handwritten in black marker, read: "Closed due to death." Inside, the bar was dark.

The national newspaper Dagbladet posted the names and photos of 30 people it said were killed in the attacks or missing. Breast cancer more lethal in blacks, reason unknown (Reuters)

NEW YORK (Reuters Health) ? It is still a mystery why black women are more likely to die from breast cancer than whites, according to a new study that shows the racial disparity can't be chalked up to obesity differences.

As a group, black women in the U.S. tend to be heavier than whites and researchers had thought that might explain why only 78 percent survive five years after diagnosis, compared to 90 percent of white women.

"This has been an important question," said Susan M. Gapstur of the American Cancer Society, who wasn't involved in the new work.

Several studies have tied obesity to poorer survival after breast cancer, but only a few small ones have tested whether that relationship varies by race.

The new study, published in the Journal of Clinical Oncology, is the most detailed and well-designed so far, Gapstur told Reuters Health.

Yani Lu of City of Hope in Duarte, California, and colleagues used data collected for an earlier breast cancer study on more than 4,500 women living in major American cities.

About a third of the women were black and the rest were white, and all were between 35 and 64 years old when they were diagnosed with breast cancer.

After more than eight years, 14 percent of the white women and a quarter of the black women had died of breast cancer.

The women had been interviewed about their weight five years before their cancer diagnosis and more than twice as many black women as white were obese (27 percent versus 12 percent).

Obese white women had a 46-percent higher chance of dying of breast cancer than their normal-weight white peers and the increased risk remained after taking other diseases and education into account.

But there was no such link for blacks.

The researchers did find a hint that extra poundage might be related to cancer death in black women with advanced disease, but Gapstur said those results would need to be replicated by additional studies in other groups.

"It was surprising that this study shows a positive relationship between obesity and breast cancer mortality in white women and not in black women," she said. "It raises important questions about other possible reasons."

While there aren't any bulletproof answers yet, researchers believe differences in tumor biology as well as health care access could be at play.

Last year, for instance, one study found that black and Hispanic women wait longer to get drug treatment after breast cancer surgery than whites.

Previous research has also found that black women are more likely to be diagnosed with breast cancers at later stages than white women.

"We don't yet have a clear picture," Gapstur said.

Still, she added, the message to black breast cancer survivors is not that they shouldn't worry about their weight.

"It is always important to maintain a healthy weight, for a variety of reasons," she told Reuters Health.

It?s no coincidence that between 2008 and 2010, individual investors pulled more than $400 billion out of full-service brokerage accounts and put that money to work in discount brokerage accounts instead. This new trend toward self-directed, online investing is a very different phenomenon from the day-trading mania of the late 1990s. The Best Video Player for iPhone [Video]

There is no perfect video player for iOS, as Apple's restrictions prevent these apps from fulling utilizing the hardware. That said, GoodPlayer manages to do quite a bit with the limitations it has, playing back and streaming just about anything you can throw at it.

GoodPlayer supports practically everything you'd want to play, so long as your iPhone's processor can handle the job. Even if it can't, GoodPlayer manages to still give you the audio without skipping a beat. While your iPhone 4 won't be able to decode a 720p MKV, supposedly your iPad 2 will (which bodes well for the next version of the iPhone which, in theory, will have an A5 processor like the iPad). Subtitle support is excellent, as it's easy to enable and disable plus GoodPlayer supports pretty much every type of subtitle encoding you'll encounter. You can output to the TV and transfer files to the app pretty much every way you could think of (aside from pulling files from Dropbox, though you could technically send them to GoodPlayer via the Dropbox app if you wanted to). While GoodPlayer isn't perfect, it manages to do a lot with the little Apple allows. Of all the video players on iOS, it is definitely one of the most ambitious.

The obvious primary drawback surfaces is GoodPlayer's inability to decode video fast enough. Your iPhone 4 won't be able to keep up with a 720p MKV (though, supposedly, an iPad 2 can). You probably don't need 720p video on your iPhone, but it is handy if you're outputting to a TV or if you just don't want to download/create two versions of the same file. But none of this is GoodPlayer's fault.

There are still issues GoodPlayer could fix or improve upon. While the interface is very utilitarian, it's not particularly nice to look at. While I haven't noticed any instability issues, some users have complained about frequent bugs. The web upload interface, while useful, is about as basic and minimal as it gets. A transfer progress meter would be helpful, considering video files are almost always pretty large. AirPlay support would be really nice as well, but chances are that won't work because of the supported formats. If GoodPlayer could overcome the impossible and utilize the hardware video acceleration the A4 and A5 chips can provide, plus improve on its interface, it would be a killer app.

Pretty much all of the direct competition offers the same feature set as GoodPlayer but has a few drawbacks here and there. One competitor worth mentioning is CineXPlayer, since it can play 3D movies. Of course, this will cost you $2 on top of the $3 price, but if you somehow need to watch 3D movies you have that option.

The built-in video player on your iPhone is worth mentioning because it really is a great player?at least for the formats it supports. You do have to sync with iTunes to get files in it, unless you buy all your video directly from the iTunes Store, but it's a good way to handle podcasts or anything else you don't mind putting in iTunes. Sure, it's far from perfect, but it does what it does pretty well.

While StreamToMe and AirVideo are technically not video players, but rather video converters and streamers, it's hard to ignore them when they are one of the best solutions for video playback on your iPhone. If you have a server available to stream files, either of these apps are really handy. You may want to supplement them with a local video player (you know, like GoodPlayer), but they do an excellent job for all those files you can't play back smoothly.

Of course there are tons of other video player apps for iPhone that aren't mentioned here, as many of them are pretty much the same thing. If you have a favorite that was left in the dust, however, let's hear about it in the comments.

In the first part to this article I showed you how your health and fitness results are a direct result of your health and fitness decisions. You are responsible whether you like it or not. In this second part to the article, I share with you what all Powerfully Positive People know, hat is how saying you are not responsible robs you of your health and fitness power, while taking responsibility, give you all the power you need. Plus I share the one big step you need to take as soon as you have taken responsibility.

When you do not take responsibility for you health and fitness, you rob yourself of the majority of your power over your health and fitness. You may say ?I am this way because of my genes, or my metabolism.? Well what influence do you have over your genes or metabolism? Very little or none. If you grant power over your health and fitness to external influences your outlook is bleak. You have no chance. The world is a scary place, and you are at its mercy.

On the other hand, if you say ?My genes and metabolism are just an influence on me, and I am ultimately responsible for my health and fitness? you claim back your power (didn?t you feel a little of that power as your read those words?). The world is a brighter place and you can for the most part, chose what you do, where you go, and what you achieve.

Those who have taken responsibility for their health and fitness are plain to see. They are the sports stars, and athletes that are idolised (don?t you have a favourite sport?s hero?), or those fit people that you know which everyone takes notice of and admires. Every one of these people has taken responsibility for their health and fitness.

Once you tell yourself that you are responsible for your health and fitness, and that you are able to work with influences such as genes, metabolism, or the lingering effects of past illnesses or injuries, you must take THE FIRST BIG STEP.

What is this first big step?

In newspapers, magazines, on the television, books, and on the internet. And as soon as you tell yourself that you want to learn what you are reading, you will automatically take more in and remember it more. And the more times you read something, the more it sinks in. Make yourself the habit of reading every health and fitness article twice. You?ll be amazed at the results.

What about the maze and masses of often conflicting information out there? Well, I can tell you from experience that this is a little bit of a myth. You?ll be surprised at how quickly you?ll find that the maze is not as big as you expected it to be.

So decide today to become a Powerfully Positive Person, and empower yourself by taking responsibility for your health and fitness, and start getting your lifelong health and fitness education.

Cheerleading started in the United States in the late 19^th century as a male activity whose purpose was to organize crowds cheering at football games.?? In 1923, women joined cheerleading squads and have increasingly dominated this sport.? Cheerleading traditionally features chanting, gymnastics, and tumbling.? The dominant image of cheerleaders? is a perky, always smiling, female who fits a particular body mold.

However, in the late 1970s, a new style of cheerleading emerged in North Carolina and Virginia.? This African American originated style of cheerleading is called ?Stomp n Shake?. ?Stomp n Shake cheerleaders have the same goals as ?traditional cheerleaders? ? to motivate their sports team and raise the enthusiasm of fans. However, Stomp n Shake?uses African American dance/stepping aesthetics and African American bragging and insult traditions (dozens/snapping) to ?pump up? their audience. ?Some Stomp n Shake squads include tumbling and stunts in their repertoire, while other squads don?t.? Mostly women, Stomp n Shake cheerleaders rarely smile.? Instead their goal is to look serious and intimidating when they are chanting their cheers and performing their cheer routines.? As the name implies, hip and butt shaking are common features of Stomp n Shake routines, something usually disallowed in most mainstream competitive cheerleading.

It?s also interesting to note that Stomp n Shake cheerleading squads? appears to be more accepting of cheerleaders who don?t fit the relatively slender body build of mainstream cheerleaders.? Usual responses to those comments are that a ?thick?(big boned) body frame is common for many Black females, and, besides,? a cheerleader?s weight has nothing to do with her cheerleading skills.

Stomp n Shake is changing the way cheerleading is performed in the United States and elsewhere, often to the dismay of many cheerleading coaches, cheerleaders, and fans who very much prefer that cheerleading remain the way it is. ?However, the influence of such movies as the Bring It On cheerleader series (five movies from 2000-2009) and the posting of videos on YouTube ? along with the desire of cheerleading squads to be cutting edge and ?hip?? have already influenced the performance styles of some more ?traditional? cheerleading squads.? It will be interesting to see whether Stomp n Shake cheerleading will also increase the acceptance in mainstream cheerleading for cheerleaders whose physical builds? are different than those of the typical cheerleader in the past and the present.

Ever found yourself standing in a game shop looking down at a game in your hand and wonder what all the age ratings and symbols mean?

Well there's an app for that now.

The PEGI app offers an easy way to browse over 16,000 video game titles that have a received a PEGI rating.

Available in 11 languages and featuring extended consumer advice about the game and content within the game as well as external game reviews.

This app is now available on Windows Phone 7, and a host of other mobile platforms.

Mars Landing Site Chosen for Next Rover (SPACE.com)

NASA has picked the final landing site for its next Red Planet rover after years of debate and will unveil its choice on Friday (July 22) ? nearly 35 years to the day after the space agency's storied Viking 1 probe touched down on Mars, agency officials said.

The landing site will be the stomping grounds for NASA's latest Martian explorer, a car-size rover called Curiosity. Curiosity is the centerpiece of the $2.5 billion Mars Science Laboratory (MSL) mission, which is slated to launch in late November.

Earlier this month, Curiosity rover scientists announced that they had narrowed the list of Mars landing site options from four choices to just two. Those potential landing sites are Gale crater and Eberswalde crater.

Some scientists suspect that Eberswalde was once an ancient river delta, while the huge Gale crater has a mountain nearly 3 miles (5 kilometers) high rising from its center ? which the Curiosity rover could try to partly climb, mission managers said.

The two landing possibilities were narrowed down from a list of four major candidates. [Best (And Worst) Mars Landings in History]

So which landing site is the winner: Gale or Eberswalde? NASA isn't saying yet, but the space agency will hold a press conference to announce its final choice on Friday at 10 a.m. EDT (1400 GMT).

The announcement will be held at the Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum in Washington on Mars Day (July 22), which comes just two days after the 35th anniversary of NASA's Viking 1 Mars landing on July 20, 1976.

Several notable scientists and mission managers will participate in the briefing. They are:

John Grant, geologist, National Air and Space Museum, Washington.

• Michael Meyer, Mars Exploration Program lead scientist, NASA Headquarters, Washington.
• John Grotzinger, Mars Science Laboratory project scientist, Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Pasadena, Calif.

• Michael Watkins, Mars Science Laboratory project engineer, JPL.

NASA's Curiosity rover is the largest rover ever to be sent to Mars. The spacecraft weighs a ton and is about the size of a Mini Cooper car. It is designed to study Mars in more detail than ever before using 10 different science instruments.

The rover is so large that instead of using only thrusters for a controlled landing like the recent Mars Phoenix Lander, or giant airbags to cushion a bouncy touchdown like the rovers Spirit and Opportunity, Curiosity will land with something new ? a rocket-powered sky crane.

The sky crane system works like this: After Curiosity arrives at Mars in August 2012, the rover will enter the Martian atmosphere while still protected by its huge heat shield and back shell.

Once the rover passes safely into the Mars atmosphere, a parachute will deploy to slow the spacecraft. Then the heat shield is jettisoned, followed by the actual rover, which pops free of its back shell and ignites a set of thrusters to slow its descent even further.

When Curiosity is hovering about 60 feet above the Martian surface, it will be lowered from its sky crane shell on cables to land on the planet. The method should allow Curiosity to land with more accuracy than previous missions, NASA officials have said.

But before Curiosity can hope to land, it needs a final destination to aim for.
