There?s only one way to get to the bottom of Ridley Scott rumours, and that?s to go to Ridley Scott. He?s been doing some press to support Prometheus ? already! ? and, of course, conversation turned to his proposed Blade Runner spin-off.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Scott was unable to definitively address whether or not Harrison Ford will be in the Blade Runner sequel because, simply put, they don?t really know what they?re doing yet.
We?re still in discussions about whether it should be a prequel or sequel. It?s an interesting conversation. I?m meeting with writers and I?ve also gone back to Hampton Fancher and he still speaks the speak. He?s right there. I spoke with him this week. But we don?t even have a script yet.
Fancher was a screenwriter on the first Blade Runner film. It?s interesting that Scott doesn?t mention David Webb Peoples, the other key writer on the film, though I don?t know what we should read from that, really.
Okay, so does Scott rule out the possibility of Ford being in the film once they know what the film is going to be?
Absolutely not. But I?m not sure that that?s going to be a story point, so I don?t know. But if it were, nothing would please me more. Honestly.
Scott seems to be having fun, getting back to his old sci-fi worlds for another play. He?s not sure it will stop with the Blade Runner spin-off either:
I just thought Prometheus was so enjoyable, returning to the world of science fiction was so fun, hat I wanted to [go back to Blade Runner, too]. I?m also thinking about, what the hell, I might do for a Prometheus 2.
Yeah ? what the hell. Just toss one off. We?ll all be there to catch it.
But? no love for Legend, Sir. Ridley?
Prometheus is coming along in June.
