Computers have become one of the most integral things for humans today due to its wide and varied purposes. Through computers, various tasks have become very easy and accurate to accomplish especially tasks that need to be done at school, work, and business or even at home. With millions of people using the computers worldwide, the demand for jobs related to computer technology and development dramatically grew like the need for computer engineers.
Computer hardware engineers are the professionals or experts that develop, design, test, research and manage the installation of the hardware components of the computer. These hardware components include the motherboard, computer chips, modems, printers and other external devices usually connected to the computer. Computer software engineers are the ones that program the computers while the computer hardware engineers are the ones that make sure that the external components are efficient, safe and properly installed to ensure fast and efficient computer system and functioning.
Computer software engineers are very in demand today due to the evolution of computer and internet technology. In this digital era, common people, even kids, businesses, large companies, banks, government institutions, schools and almost all kinds of establishments are now using computer to improve the productivity and efficiency of their ventures. Computer engineers can work in various government agencies, private companies, commercial and industrial institutions, computer manufacturing companies and suppliers, academic institutions like universities and colleges, any companies or businesses that use computers for their business and as a private consultant.
For the coming years, computer functions and demands are expected to grow even more resulting to higher demands for computer-related jobs. One of the great countries with high demand for computer hardware and software engineers is Japan. According to some research, Japan is the leading country in terms of computer development, design and programming. There will be a slow growth in demand for computer engineers in the US and some countries in Europe as well. The average annual salary for computer hardware engineers is $80,000 to $110,000. Newly registered computer engineers can earn $60,000 to $70,000 annually in the first few years of their careers.
With the booming demand for computer engineers, preparing for a computer hardware engineering career can be a good choice since this kind of job offers great job opportunities and salaries. Registered computer hardware engineers can also expect great career opportunities overseas especially in countries with growing computer technology and development industry like Japan, United States, China, Singapore, Australia, India and Korea.

TERRE HAUTE ? Vigo County?s self-insured health insurance costs are down more than $650,000 from last year, county commissioners learned Wednesday in a report from Anthem Insurance.
Of that total, prescription costs were down about $123,000, dipping? to $683,000 from $806,000 last year, while medical costs dropped to just over $2,785,000 from just over $3,313,000 last year, a decrease of about $528,000.
Overall, medical claims were down 16 percent. The cost paid per employee dipped 12 percent from last year, while the cost per member, which includes family members, dropped 14 percent.
Vigo County funds medical expenses up to $75,000 per person, and costs over that are then covered by Anthem.
Effective April 1, the drug Lipitor, a cholesterol-lowering drug, will not be funded by Anthem, which instead will pay for a generic drug. Switching to generic would lower monthly costs to $10 from $30 a month for county employees.
For employees who still want the name brand drug, it may be required they go through a step therapy, which uses other drugs first. Commissioners have asked Anthem if that could be a viable option when the county renews its insurance this year.
It is the first year of the county?s health plan under a new fiscal year, which runs annually from July 1 to June 30. The move was made to allow county officials to gain a clear grasp of health care costs prior to the passage of an annual county budget. The Anthem report showed expenses from Feb. 2, 2011, through Jan. 31, 2012.
Most of the lower costs comes from savings measures that include a spousal carve-out program, which removed spouses who have access to insurance at their employment; changes in deductibles; plus adding a fourth payment tier for employees on higher-cost drugs.
However, the county still has areas to improve. For example, last year there were 174 visits to hospital emergency rooms, resulting in 22 in-patient admissions.
?That is high,? Jacque Pentell, vice president for employee benefits at Forrest Sherer Insurance, which manages the county?s health plan, said of the number of ER visits.
One way to improve that number is with the implementation of a county wellness center, expected to open in April, and implementation of a wellness program.
Commissioner Paul Mason said the county is using the savings in lower health costs to construct, stock and open the wellness center in the Vigo County Annex.
?The center will probably result in more savings next year. So, if we see savings with the wellness center and from the insurance, I think that will be a big plus for Vigo County employees,? Mason said.

This past weekend, three planets joined the moon in a rare alignment. On Monday, these celestial bodies will be joined by Mercury.?
A cosmic team-up of planets and the thin crescent moon is dazzling skywatchers around the world this weekend, and the celestial sky show is just getting started.
Skip to next paragraphThe planets Venus and Jupiter dominate the western evening sky at sunset on Saturday and Sunday (Feb. 25 and 26), with the crescent moon hovering nearby. The planet Mercury joins the cosmic trio briefly just after sunset before slipping below the horizon.
The planet Mars is also making its own appearance in the evening sky, but rises in the east a few hours after sunset in its own solo celestial show.
The?sky maps of Jupiter, Venus and the moon here?show how the bright objects, as well as Mars later, will appear in the night sky.?
"This is a great weekend to watch the sun go down. Venus, Jupiter and the slender crescent moon are lining up in the western sky, forming a bright triangle in the evening twilight," astronomer Tony Phillips of the skywatching website?Spaceweather.com?wrote in an alert. Skywatchers have already been amazed at the sight of Jupiter and Venus shining together with the moon this week.
"To see the three brightest objects in the sky form a perfectly straight line in the west was a very beautiful and very powerful sight that I will not forget," skywatcher and nature photographer William Ott told SPACE.com in an email. Ott snapped photos of the planets and moons from a spot just outside Woodstown, N.J.
On Saturday and Sunday, the moon, Venus and Jupiter will appear as a skinny triangle of celestial lights. However, the triangle will have a slightly different configuration on each night.
Tonight, Jupiter, Venus and Mercury will align in a diagonal line (with Jupiter at the top) with the moon appearing just above and at the right of Venus. On Sunday night, the cosmic line-up happens again, but this time the moon will appear higher in the sky, just to the right of Jupiter.
